I'm so sleepy today on the job. I've switched with a colleague/friend so I had to wake up and be here by 9AM. 9AM!!!! That's unholy. Honestly I still haven't woken up and it's noon. I've been dropping things all morning. Actually, I have been falling in and out of sleep. So... this young lady comes in to open the caffe latte stand in Campus Center, she requests the key. I get it I bring it and i'm like. "Oh, what's your name?" She suddenly starts smiling and is like "Claire". I'm thinking... "Girl, I AM NOT HITTING ON YOU, I HAVE TO PUT YOUR NAME IN THE LOG!" So i'm like "Claire..." elongating her name signifying the prompt for her surname. So i guessed she realized the error of her assumption then, cus she suddenly got unhappy. What is the meaning you ask? Simple, Don't wake people up in the AM. Especially not the single-digit AM. Otherwise, you may wind up stomping someone's feelings.

Speaking of stomping... Last night was the Pan-African Alliance/ African Student Organization's Annual Semi-formal. Blackout (the male stepteam here) performed in the middle. Yeah, we kinda threw the show together last minute (i'm a captain by the way). Including making up the outro only an hour or so before the show, and teaching it to half the guys outside of the Men's Room. Suprisingly though it was a pretty good show. The few errors that were made were enjoyable if noticed.
The DJs were on point too. Played all the current jams, then took it back with some Jodeci, then Michael Jackson. We had a soul train line (for all of 3 turns) then it just formed into one big mass of dancers again. I got to try my hand at stepping (the old school way, that seems to only live on in Chi-town). I really like it, I would definitely take a class or two in that. Pass down a good black traditions.
Peace.

Grrrr.
Among the top ten worst experiences in college should be "Fire Alarms in the middle of GOOD sleep." I think "Drunk People" should be up there too. Seeming that they can be the catalyst to a number of other horrid college experiences, and may very well be the cause of this one.
"The roof... The roof... The roof is on fire!!!
"We don't need no water let the motherf*cker burn! Burn, motherf*cker!"
PEace and Good Sleep.

[Picture Here]
Yeah, so I tonight I saw Robert Randolph & The Family Band in concert. I was skeptical at first, but them boys wrecked shop. Now many of you wonder what they sound like... you would try to define them as Rock/Gospel/Jazz fusion, but really the best thing to do would be to call them an easily-accepted form of Zydeco. Why? Because that is basically the genre you get when you finish adding up all the genres you would claim it to be and they give you that same good feel that Zydeco does too. If your not going to call it Zydeco, then think of it as going back to the birth of Rock & Roll (like when u said " & Roll". A happy Blues. That Chuck Berry, BB King, or 'strung upside-down for a left handed genius' - yes i mean Jimi - kinda Rock and Roll.
You can tell these men genuinely enjoy music. As well, that pass that joy on to you, especially if you are a Music major and have a passion for music anyway. They started playing and I was like, hmph, this is kinda cool, but i'm not one to be swayed easily. Then as the first song was ending they broke into Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze... yeah, it was a wrap from there. I was jamming from then on (the whole show). Ya boyz went through everything from Alicia Keys - You Don't Know My Name, Aerosmith - Walk This Way, a couple of jams off of Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album, and even the theme to Sanford & Son. Not only that, everyone in that band can play the mess out two instruments. The bassist picked up a guitar and wrecked shop, 'Robert Randolph' picked up a guitar and wrecked shop. All the guitarist (three of them) can sing... well. But the 'coup de gras'...the organist (Jason) picked up a violin/fiddle and WRECKED SHOP! YA BOY BROKE IT DOWN! I was like "D*mn, I'm jammin' to a fiddle!" But I guarantee you, I was jammin'. Yeah... um. they rocked. Big ups to the professional photographer who didn't steal my camera but rather took pictures for me. As well as the roadie who let my girl sit on the side of the stage so she could see. Good lookin' out.
Peace & Blessings.
Sidenote: Yeah, lol, so my girl, my boy Asi, and his girl, Alma, and myself were the only Black people in the audience... and when they bust into Alicia Keys, we were the ONLY people who knew it. Dang shame, lol.

Yeah, so I get to go to Jazz Theory class again today, which has quickly become my favorite class here EVER! Tied with Gospel Choir. I understand why John Coltrane is a musical genius now. And we got to analyze "Giant Steps", my favorite Coltrane song. Yeah, Coltrane is a genius. He studied Numerology and i think Eastern Philosophy and some other things. And he worked out this pattern of music, which has become known as The Coltrane Matrix, because how how it stacks onto itself and can be run backwards and forwards. OR When he uses it in a song like "Giant Steps" you can basically play connect the dots with some of the bars vertically and diagonally across the bar lines. So... everybody... John Coltrane - "Giant Steps".

Yeah... nothing new. Really. Grammy's. Um... Yeah. Hmph, i think my life is kinda monotonous right now. Think of this as one of those awkward silences, and we just go back and forth trading "So..." and "Well..." and "Yeah...". I'm going to go laydown and psuedo-read, until i fall asleep.
Peace humans.

Hi...
I'm currently at work, and there is a dance tonight sponsored by the Transgender Lesbian Gay Bisexual Collective at my school. Which i have no problem with, more power to them and their solidarity. The funny part was when they actually played "It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls. I was like, "Wow that's oddly stereotypical... and can only be outdone if they bust out with some Village People." (Although as I speak they are playing "Vogue" by Madonna.)
However, the most interesting part was when this Gospel concert/jubilee was going on in the area directly adjacent to the party (separated by a couple of easily-opened glass doors). So yeah... highly religious black folk, and homosexuals... hmmmmm. Who planned this? Who would put them right next to each other? Now you KNOW how highly-religious Black folk are. Yeah...
Fortunately the entire thing transgressed in an anti-climactic near-miss. One ended just before the other could really pop off. So... it's suprisingly all good. Although I like to contemplate what could have happened for entertainment.
Peace.

P.S.>Oh, there was this boy and girl who went into the Men's restroom twice. I didn't think anything of it the first time cus it was just to freshen up and they were out in under 60seconds. However, the second time, they came out putting clothes back on, and I was like... "Hmmm, if i didn't see it, it didn't happen."
Peace & Blessings

DRUDGE REPORT 2004
Oh yeah, i got the whole SuperBowl on tape. I am still stunned. I thought it was covered or staged. I still think it was staged, but it sure wasn't covered. A friend of mine missed it, he cried. My girlfriend and I taped it and watched it about 15 times, cus neither of believed we saw what we saw.
Peace.
